London / Windmill Pedestrian Light Timings
Reported via desktop in the Traffic Lights (permanent only) category by Chris Smowton at 17:51, Sat 2 December 2023 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5275666.
Passing on a resident's comment:
"Please could the time allowed pedestrians to cross at the light on London Road, and at the main Headington junction at Windmill Road be LENGTHENED by 15-20 seconds?
"I have mobility limitations and the current pedestrian crossing times are not sufficient for elderly and/or mobility impaired people to cross the road safely.
"I realize this is a heavily used traffic area, but surely making drivers wait a few seconds longer would be preferable to yet another pedestrian accident."

Thank you for your report. The site has a 10 second green man time (invitation to cross) which is then followed by another 13 seconds of delay before conflicting vehicles receive a green signal. We have reviewed these timings and confirm they are already higher than those calculated in guidance. Therefore we believe they are appropriate for this location and no changes to them are planned.
