Hazardous metal cabinet base in pavement with protruding wires. Danger to public/elderly person fell over it / Outside Peachey Edwards House E26GF

Reported in the Dangerous structure category anonymously at 02:40, Mon 29 September 2014

Sent to Tower Hamlets 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 527283.

2 months ago it was reported to Virgin that vandals broke open a media cabinet outside of Peachey Edwards House but No one came to fix it so it was continually vandalised. We attempted to temporary close it with tape a few times until it was properly fixed, but this kept getting ripped open and the doors were continually flapping with cut wires protruding. A hinge was broken and the access cover was so loose it allowed rain in and for people to throw litter.

Last weekend (26/28th Sapt) the main metal body was disappeared/stolen leaving only the metal base (about 2 inches high) sticking up with wires from inside left hanging over. The metal base (shown in the attached photograph) this week has proved to be very hazardous as well as becoming a more obvious rubbish bin with empty bottles of alcohol/food left in it (Disgusting.) Moreover, a elderly neighbour hurt her foot as she walked her dog, and as she has poor eyesight she walked into its sharp corner and nearly fell.

This weekend we tried to empty the disgusting rubbish and tried to temporarily fill the hole with bark chips so that there is no empty space for it to act as a dustbin (- but this will get rubbished back to its original state very soon.) Also the local gang who make havoc on this street and who hang out in the Cameron Best park with their bikes, have started using this as a ramp to do bicycle stunts on which is even more worrying for the pavement's pedestrians.

This part cabinet is hazardous to people, encouraging these thugs to use it in this way as well as it turning into an ugly scrap metal litter box, so please can the Council make whoever owns it to fix this problem urgently before someone else gets hurt.
