Public footpath blocked off
Reported via mobile in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 09:47, Mon 20 November 2023
Sent to Luton Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5231483.
The public footpath through the field has been blocked off by the cemetery extension contractors. I think this might be illegal?

Apparently Luton council can do what they want and close off a public right of way just like that. (in addition to giving themselves planning permission for the cemetery extension).

Footpath is still closed off. This footpath is on a map from 1887.

Partly accessible. The style is padlocked shut for some odd reason and the new footpath needs clearing and cutting back. Totally amateur effort from council. The new parking/ drug area at the new entrance allows access to the new unusable footpath.

Still padlocked off. Have chased up directly with council with zero response on this issue. The council have degraded Butterfield Green Road. They have no shame and do not care. Drainage, road changes, cemetery extension, this little issue, industrial estate expansion, green belt degradation. They do not listen and do not care. It’s all about the money. Have a look around. Look out for the good awful banners strewn around the town. The council take money for these eyesores. They are so in debt it is ridiculous. They limit their borrowing to £1 billion! I thought they would address an ancient right of way with a moral responsibility but apparently not.
