Very badly damaged grass verges

Reported via desktop anonymously at 15:32, Thu 16 November 2023

Sent to Brighton and Hove City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5220368.

The grass verges on both sides of the road are very muddy & damaged. it is dangerous when people are crossing the road & walking past when dark. There are a lot of school children that walk along here every day. The situation is not helped by cars parking on it. Please can something be done about it

  • Unfortunately it got passed round different departments. The last reply we got was from highway operations. They said they have no capacity to install wooden posts, This could be done by residents if causing concern. This meant that we could pay for posts even if the problem is not outside our property. Meanwhile cars still keep driving over it & some of the mud ends up down the drain. We believe they have asked SGN to reinstate the 3 posts they removed on the north side.

  • So far nothing has been done. It has just got worse with cars driving over it especially when the children come out of school. The cars parking at school time along here & in Holmes Avenue is really dangerous for the children trying to cross the road. Origanally we were told they would have to drive into the Neville Road entrance. We have to step over the mud in our road to get into our car at the bottom of our driveway. The mud is still going down the drain there & the council do not seem to care.
