Westminster Road, outside cemetery gate

Reported via mobile in the Flooding category anonymously at 20:31, Tue 14 November 2023 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5212384.

A very large and deep puddle forms here every time it rains heavily, several times in the last few weeks already. This is dangerous because people come down Westminster Road quickly and the puddle is on a corner, so they have little time to react and there is a risk that if two cars approach quickly at the same time there will be an accident as they are both swerving unpredictably to avoid the water and each other. This deep water forms because there are a lot of trees on Westminster Rd and the drains block up every year at this time. There needs to be more regular sweeping of the road, plus an ANNUAL programme of unblocking the grids in November when the leaves have fallen but are still fresh and have not rotted and filled the gulleys with silt. Anything less than annual gully clearance just allows this problem to return the next year since there are so many leaves. Clearing the gulleys every two or three years is a false economy in this location.

  • Thank you for contacting Cheshire East Highways. We have logged your enquiry and passed it to a member of our team.

Our teams are working hard to manage and respond to reports from members of the public.

We are experiencing a high volume of enquiries and we will be prioritising those issues that present most risk to the travelling public. While we normally aim to provide you with a response within 20 working days, response times for all other reported issues may take longer than usual.
