Trees obscuring vital road traffic signs

Reported via mobile in the Trees category anonymously at 19:40, Mon 13 November 2023

Sent to Leeds City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5207530.

Signage is obscured by trees and herbage which may cause motorists some difficulty. Also signs that warn that speed cameras are present are also obscured which may lead to excessive speeds from motorists on this busy road. Motorists do drive too fast on this road and the signs might moderate that temptation to exceed the speed limit. Also large direction signs are completely obscured in some places. I hope this helps. I know everyone is very busy but I thought you might need to know about this issue. Thank you.

  • No action has been taken to cut back the herbage that obscures the signs on the link road from junction 45 to Cross Green. These signs are Order, warning, direction and information signs. This is important because Order signs should always be clearly visible to motorists. This stretch of road does have speeding vehicles on regularly and the police are doing their best to prevent vehicles exceeding the speed limit but signs that are obscured are not warning drivers that there is a speed limit and exceeding that limit is against the law. It is important to ensure all signs are clearly visible

  • It is very important to keep signage visible for motorists. All signs are important, Order, Warning, direction, and information. It obviates the need for expensive signs if they are completely obscured by unkempt herbage.
