Illegally Parked Vehicles

Reported via mobile in the Abandoned vehicles category anonymously at 19:25, Mon 6 November 2023

Sent to Folkestone and Hythe District Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5181831.

The vehicles shown are continuously parking illegally making the road and footway un-passable. Vehicles including other neighbours cars, delivery vans and supermarket deliveries and the bin lorry cannot get through and numerous people keep sounding their horns all hours of the night as they pass.

I have researched and the following offenses are being commited:

1. Parking opposite to the flow of traffic without red reflectors displayed at night.

2.Obstructing the footway to less than 1m so wheelchairs and prams cannot pass.

3. Parking partially on the footway.

4. Parking opposite another parked vehicle so other vehicles cannot pass.

5. Parking on a blind bend.

This is incredibly dangerous. The cpuncil have not acted despite reports for several months.

Police reports have been filed numerous times and the police have spoke to several of the vehicle owners already.

  • Another repeat blind bend parker. Also on the path.

  • More illegally parked cars. The van is blocking the path and turnaround again.

3 more cars on the turnaround and all blocking the path.

And the blind bend parker is back also parked the wrong way at night.

I saw 2 near misses today again.

  • The same cars again. Two cars parked opposite and one of them backwards and on the path. The DHL driver could not get through past them and drove off without delivering my parcel.

Van and car both parked in the turn around opposite eachother blocking someones drive and blocking the path again so you can't walk on it. The white care had a spae on his drive so why park in the road illegally???

And the blind bend parking learner is back too.

These people need dealing with they do not seem to care they are committing criminal offenses. More police reports have been recorded.

Council will probably ignore again as they are incompetent.

  • The van is blocking the path and parked in the turnaround again today. Cannot get padt on the path at all.

There is a car today as you can see committing 3 offenses. Obstructing the footpath to less than 1m, it would be impassable for some. Parked partially on the footway. And parked the wrong way without affixing red reflectors.

Also reported to the police who have again informed me that enforcing parking is the council's responsibility and they should be the first point of call. I again informed the police that the council claim it is nothing to do with them. The police again have confirmed this is nonsense and the council have full authority on parking on adopted roads and can fine up to £600 for these offenses.

Someone do something. We are all fed up with our neighbour's behaviour.

  • Police and council just fob you off and direct you to each other over and over.

According to legislation the council have full authority to issue fines in this instance, but they seem to know better than the actual law?

In the meantime we keep missing deliveries because the vans cannot get down the road.
