Damage to footpath 39 The Oval, , Kettering, NN15 6AZ

Reported via desktop in the Slabs - Uneven / Damaged / Cracked category anonymously at 12:22, Thu 2 November 2023 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5166311.

I have noticed yesterday and have taken photos of the pathway outside my property, it has developed a large crack in the tarmacadam in more than one place, one of which is heading directly to a lampost. i am thinking its due to roots from a near-by tree that is far to big now and does suffer from strong winds because of this. with all the heavy rain over the last few weeks and higher winds it may be of become undermined with the amount of water and now causing extra stress on its roots and causing pathway damage. due to other trees in this area substantial damge has been caused to roots lifting through the pathways opposite to such a large extent that mobility scooters, prams and pedestrians now use the pathway outside my property so now this one has potential of further damge being caused by this tree, its just a matter of time before insidends could happen. could someone assess this and the path opposite before the tree is allowed to cause catastrophic damge or injuries. these trees being as tall as they are now and far to big now not only cause issues with falling dead branches and leaves but also have become health hazards from excessive bird droppings on the pathways and houses entrance pathways leaving residents no option but to walk through it. i will be contacting the local mp with my concerns as there is a lot of foot traffic in this area using the pathways arround here. and as a being a long time resident here have noticed very little maintenance has been done over the time i have lived here. hope that this matter gets address very soon thank you.

  • I reported a problem with the pathways outside and opposite my house the reference number is : 5166311 however it looks like only the opposite pathway has been repaired and not the pathway outside my house as its still marked up with yellow marker, akso they gave not marked up the fresh cracks in the pathway that i actually reported . my concern is that the tree that has caused these fresh cracks is probably become unstable due to the amount of rain we have had and may of become compromised by this. all the years i have lived hear the pathway outside my home has never split like this. thank you.
