Car crashing through hedge & metal fence

Reported via mobile in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 10:30, Sun 29 October 2023

Sent to Norfolk County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5148896.

This is second time a vehicle has driven off the road at the A148 roundabout in Holt. Most recently last weekend. Crashed through hedge, across grass and, through black metal fence. Had it travelled any further, it would have hit the pair of semi detached houses in Woodpecker Avenue, Holt, which is on the new Lovell estate. A crash barrier is required on this curve, just in front of the hedge, to stop vehicles travelling any further. I picked up a piece of what I presume is the vehicle this morning while walking my dog. It's bright yellow and, looks like carbon fibre. Also, there is a traffic island just a few meters down Nightjar Road from the roundabout, which has damage caused in the Summer. The yellow bollard is distorted & the circular blue/white sign has been knocked out onto the island.

Updates

  • No crash barrier built where it would be most useful, as per my suggestion. Bollard on small island of 2 not repaired. Cars are still racing up to the roundabout, I can hear them even from a distance, when walking my dog. After the 30mph sign approaching Kelling Heath on the A148 and, then the 40mph sign just passed the turn off to Holt Garden Centre, the speed limit should remain at 40mph up to the roundabout and, not change to unlimited by turn off to Kelling Hospital. This speed limit is too high. At least two deer have been killed on that stretch this Summer. It's ridiculous.
