Excessive parking of buses at bus stop on double yellow

Reported via mobile anonymously at 07:16, Tue 24 October 2023

Sent to Richmond upon Thames Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5130403.

Since the R68 changed to the R70, an excessive amount of buses are piling up at the Kew Retail Park bus stop. 3-5 buses at any one time are parked and waiting to begin service eventually. Half of these buses are parked on a double yellow line. The road is curbed. And buses are stopped on a curved road, completely limiting visibility for road users to overtake the 200+ feet of parked buses.

I’ve complained to TfL, who simply forwarded my complaint to Abellio. I have now also emailed Abellio about this matter because yesterday evening I was faced with a very angry on coming vehicle and was trapped in the road while they argued with me.

This is not legal to park vehicles there, and it is unsafe for road users. It is not a bus depot and should not be used as one by Abellio.

Photo shows 5 buses, and a close up of one to show the double yellow lines on curbed road.

Thank you.

  • Buses are still queuing up at this bus stop for extended periods of time. Buses almost constantly parked on the double yellow lines on this curved road hampering visibility for drivers and pedestrians.
