Blocked Drain - Flooding
Reported via mobile in the Obstruction (Not Vegetation) category by Jake Ledger at 13:12, Fri 20 October 2023 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5118482.
Drain in the alleyway between Boughton Green and Ruskin Road is blocked, resulting in flooding rendering the alley impassable. You claim you unblocked this gully under a report back in July, However it clearly was not touched. Please ensure your works ticket clearly identifies the location of this drain. They will probably be best to try and bring the vehicle through on the Ruskin Road end of the alley.

How is 26 weeks an appropriate repair timescale when as evidenced above this blocked drain is posing a risk of property damage and injury? This alleyway is used heavily by schoolchildren and nearby elderly residents. If standing water is allowed to freeze over winter then it would create an incredibly dangerous situation. This should really be 28 days at most.

This blocked drain continues to flood the footpath making the alley way fairly unusable and is a major issue for the elderly and disabled pedestrians. 26 weeks is an unacceptable timescale for clearing.

Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Ongoing - Due to the exceptionally wet weather, we have received an increase in the number of enquiries relating to the state of our roads. All safety defects must be prioritised to keep our highways safe; this may result in scheduled work being delayed.

Now nearly eight months since the works ticket was raised, and yet the gully remains blocked. Why are you so blatantly failing to meet SLAs?

Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Work Completed - This was attended to in June 2024 and the team manually removed 5 bags of rubbish/debris. New priority 4 job has been raised to clean and CCTV the system. This will indicate why the outlet was not running correctly.
