Kerbstone lowering
Reported in the Potholes category anonymously at 11:48, Sun 3 August 2014
Sent to Bolton Borough Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 508218.
I wish to draw attention to draw your attention to the lack of proper access to the public footpath that runs between Medway Close, Horwich and Stocks Park drive. There is no special access by way of a sunken kerb to assist persons with mobility scooters or wheeled frames who daily use the path. The nearest sunken kerb is at the access to my drive which can be a danger to those using the path travelling towards Medway Close from Stocks Pk drive. They have to turn right at the end of my fencing to use the sunken kerb at a time when I am reversing out on the other side of the fence. Neither I or the mobility scooter user have sufficient time to take avoiding action. I request that work be undertaken to improve access to the public path for infirm pedestrians and mobility scooter users.

Why dont you revers onto your drive? It's much easier as you have much more visability reversing on. It is much less risky revering off a highway than onto it.
Of course it allows for a speedier get away in the event you are late, need to get to the hospital or if there is a build up of traffic. With a bit of practice you will find it much easier than lazily driving on ans the struggling to reverse off.
Course this issue still stands and the council should rectify.

Bolton Council declined to remedy the situation stating there were lowered kerbs nearby. This answer fails to take account of their obligation to the infirm and poor sighted/blind residents who live in the area.
