Poor markings/signage

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category by Dom Wiffen at 18:09, Tue 3 October 2023

Sent to Waltham Forest Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5058275.

There are a number of issues with this roundabout relating to lane discipline/vehicles using the incorrect lanes. Due to the scale of the issue, it is clearly due to insufficient road signage and markings.

The majority of the way around, it is a 3-lane 'spiral' type roundabout, where lane 1 should take the next exit and lanes 2 and 3 should 'slide over'. However, this rarely happens - for example heading from Leytonstone towards A12 W exit as demonstrated in "Green Man 1.0" image.

If the roundabout was marked with clearer lane markings, similar to "Green Man 2.0" image, this would help the issue. The roundabout could also benefit from some lane specific signage, particularly since the majority of the lanes onto entry are quite lengthy so there is ample opportunity.

There are a couple of places around the roundabout that have incorrect arrows, for instance the A12 E sliproad onto the roundabout as in "Green Man 4.0". Lane 1 is for the first exit, so should display a "left only" arrow. The straight arrow confuses drivers and causes many to cut across lanes right of them.

Lastly, there are no yellow boxes or keep clear markings on the roundabout. This would be enormously beneficial to better manage traffic flow during rush hours. Often, at certain times, it is impossible to enter the roundabout from A12 E slip road due to cars blocking flow - I have sat at the lights for 3 or 4 cycles before due to this.
