Dear Sir / Madam, Having spent some 35 years as a HGV and PSV Driver throughout the UK and Europe and 12 years as an Accident Investigator, I consider myself to be an experienced driver. The point I would like to raise is regarding the siting of the Primary Route Direction Signs at the recently completed junction of the eastbound A555 and the new A523 Poynton bypass, near to the Bramhall Oil Terminal. I strongly feel that these signs are far too close to the junction, thus, strangers to the area are 'caught off guard' and find themselves in the wrong lane if intending to turn right onto the new A523. I travel past this junction three or four times per week en route to High Lane and on each journey I see vehicles attempting to turn right from lane one (the nearside lane) because there has not been sufficient warning ahead of the junction. I would suggest moving the signage westwards along the A555 by at least four hundred yards for the first sign and two hundred yards for the second sign. This, in my opinion would allow drivers more time to move across to the dedicated right turn lane without causing eastbound traffic to have to brake heavily and/or manoeuvre quickly to avoid a collision. I hope this will be helpful to you.

Somebody will get hurt due to these road signs being too close to the junction. I've reported it to the authorities, now it's up to them. We'll see if they care about road safety or not.
