Rusty metal protruding on cycle stand by Waitrosr

Cycle stand is in poor state of repair outside Waitrose. Sheet of metal at bottom of stand is torn and rusty. I just cut my thumb badly picking my lock up from floor and brushing against said sheet. Sheet is very sharp where torn, very rusty and just at ankle height DANGEROUS

    Waitrose; We have applied some black and yellow safety tape in hope this does not cut anybody else and attached photos of the metal prior to tape being applied.

  • Thank you Waitrose for undertaking temporary safety measures. We have been requesting improvements to cycle parking for over a year - https://www.fixmystreet.com/ report/ 3604786 - and hope Chelsfield Ward Councillors will ensure Bromley Council will act when repairs to the brick planters are carried out, and encourage more people to consider shopping by bike (and cargo bike) if they are able to do so.

  • Dear Friends, thanks for following up. Would like to mention the kindness shown by Waitrose staff in providing tissues, wipes and plasters, it was bleeding profusely but they were very good Sorry about the floor
