Unlawful encampment on highway

Reported via desktop anonymously at 11:18, Wed 20 September 2023

Sent to Torbay Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5013210.

Section 77 served on campervan and caravans to leave immediatly. This was done FIVE weeks ago and has been totally ignored by several unauthorised occupants. Still no action by Torbay Council. At least two occupants of the unauthorised encampment operate petrol-driven electricity generators. The petrol is stored within their trailer caravans and on the highway. SWISCo operators tasked with clearing the road of fly-tipped waste have reported significant drugs paraphernalia, including discarded syringes. If one adds the observed chaotic lifestyle of the occupants of the encampment to this mixture the very real risk of a caravan fire with tragic consequences must be considered. Councillors, council agencies and Brixham Police will all be accountable if no action is taken and a tragedy occurs.
