Investigating
Road not reinstated following works by BT

At the end of January 2023, I first raised the issue of problems being caused due to the road surface not being reinstated by BT (reference 4185863), after they dug a trench across the High Street. The trench was dug (approximately opposite Lee's Butcher). Half of the road (the SW bound side) was reinstated, and has caused no problems. However, the trench on the NE bound side has not been reinstated properly, causing properties on the High Street and in Butchers Yard to vibrate when lorries and buses go past, as they head up up the High Street (in a NE direction) from The Square. The problem being most noticeable when buses pass, as they move at faster speeds than lorries. The issue has since been raised by a number of my neighbours with properties fronting the High Street, as well as those located in Butchers Yard, which are set well back from the High Street. There is concern that damage could be being caused to foundations, and pipework (e.g. water and sewerage). Despite assurances given by the Council that works would be carried out on or before 18 September 2023, no action has been taken. When exactly is the work now scheduled to be carried out? If there is going to be any delay, how will you recompense home owners should property repairs be needed? This problem needs urgent attention.

Work commenced on site today, thank goodness. However, only one side of the road has been repaired (SW bound side), however, the problem is the NE bound side of the road, and work to this side has not been undertaken. I have been advised that this was due to parked cars and a wedding. The contractors advised that they will be directed to return to site - when will this be? Further, they advised that over-night works would be best (less traffic, and a better quality repair as the tarmac will have time to cure). I live adjacent to the repair site, and would be very happy for overnight work to ensure the work gets done quickly (as the NE bound side is the side causing problems), and to a high standard, so the problem is not repeated.
