  • The beech tree is loosing its leaves as it does every autumn , however there are also cone type cobs falling and makes walking underfoot awkward and potentially dangerous. The main issue is these cob type things all go a block the main rainwater drain at the bottom of my drive and will cause major flooding on the road and hoses adjacent . This tree needs a major cut back and the drain unblocking. This drain needs to be checked and cleared regularly to stop houses flooding as it’s the only drain taking all the water at the bottom of Grafton Road . I have attached a bucket load of these cobs I swept up yesterday .

However, North Northamptonshire Highways can accept no responsibility for the tree leaf litter, seed drop, sap exudations etc, as these are natural physiological occurrences only to be expected by trees. If there is a problem of leaf litter etc on the public footway this should be reported to the Street Cleansing Department at the relevant authority.

  • Hi my main concern was the constant blocking of the main storm drain from this foliage which caused and doesn’t help with not only road flooding but adjacent properties . I understand you have budgets however please clear this drain asap
