When driving down this segment of road which I don't do very often I realised that the trees/hedges are so overgrown that the traffic lights for the pedestrian crossing are so insured that you cannot see them until you are virtually at the crossing. This is dangerous given the 60mph speed limit of this segment of the by-pass. But this explains why, when I use this crossing (which I do frequently) I've seen drivers go through the red light that means they need to stop. As a pedestrian, or when i'm cycling over this Toucan crossing, I dare not attempt to cross until the traffic has definitely stopped because I genuinely fear getting injured by a driver who doesn't stop. I assumed drivers were just being careless, with a speed up because the light has turned to amber attitude (rather than correctly slowing) leading to driving through the red lights but now realise that drivers genuinely cannot see the traffic lights as far in advance as they should be able to. This crossing has always felt dangerous and I know many people agree(it was mentioned by parents fighting , on 2 separate occasions,to keep the free Malbank school bus when this crossing was included as part of a suggested "safe" walking route. Even more of a worry is that this same issue was reported by someone else nearly a year ago and NOTHING appears to have been done. Risking lives for months!
