Unmarked black bags left on pavements

Reported via desktop in the Flytipping category anonymously at 15:40, Tuesday 5 September 2023

Sent to Glasgow City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4961745.

At various locations along Victoria Park Drive South & Dumbarton Rd.

This following a council worker sweeping up some of the gutters in Whiteinch (thanks). That work, I believe, is ongoing.

However, unmarked black bags just look like the usual, domestic (and commercial) flytipping on our pavements and will only encourage more of same.

So why can't the council use identifiable refuse bags (just as businesses are supposed to) and why can't all bags be removed at the end of each shift ie not left 24hrs+ as here? That would be sensible management.

  • And another, opposite the library. These bags are all half-full and light. They could easily have been gathered up in one location, that location notified to a depot, and lifted by a low loader in a oner. .

In fact, no bags should have been involved. Swept up into piles, shovelled onto caged low loader.

Both of which way too sensible for any GCC manager in 2023.

  • 4 days later. Bags still lying. Behold, municipal flytipping! You couldn't make it up. And I didn't.
