Cars blocking emergency vehicles access

Reported via mobile in the Car parking category anonymously at 16:32, Sat 2 September 2023

Sent to Enfield Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4951966.

The double yellow lines on Acacia Road are being used as a parking area for the owners employees and clients of Two Brothers motorcycle garage. When parked on both sides of the entrance to Acacia Road they make it impossible for cars to enter and exit at the same time. When this occurs as it does frequently during the day because of the busy petrol station on Acacia Road, it causes traffic jams and angry scenes between drivers. People are forced to wait while they try to find the owners and get them to move, all the while cars are leaning on their horns for minutes at a time. Enfield council seem powerless; repeatedly saying they can only refer it to the private company that they have farmed out the responsibility of parking tickets to.

Updates

  • The employees of the two brothers motorcycle garage and the clients of the Primitive Butcher continue to use the double yellow lines as their own personal parking spaces. Every resident of Acacia Road follows the rules and for the past 20 years none of us have parked on the double yellow lines. However nearly two years ago the Butchers and the moped garage arrived and since then have disregarded the U.K. highways laws with impunity. When parking attendants do come they are chased away by violent and threatening drivers.
