Weight of ivy could bring street lamp down in a storm.

Reported via mobile in the Other Lighting Issue category anonymously at 09:42, Sat 19 August 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4906810.

The weight of the ivy could bring the street lamp down in a storm. Ivy will soon cover the light bulb.

This has been reported for a number of years by myself but you have reported that you are unable to get anyone to cut the ivy. Past nesting season so no issue here. Do you wait for the whole lot to collapse onto a busy crossing point and traffic junction?

Council ref: 4906810

Asset ID: 069

Unit type: Light

  • When will this ivy be removed please?

  • This asset is due for renewal, early 2024, so will be removed and replaced with new. in the meantime, OCC contactor will attend, and clear/cut back growth from the base area, to restrict any further growth. when the asset is replaced, all vegetation will be removed completely.
