The Island Bollards are missing from these locations.

Reported via mobile in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 09:23, Sat 15 July 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4788840.

The Island Bollards from these two locations are missing (seem to have been taken out by previous incidents it looks like). I was turning right off Ducklington Lane into the Service Station access road through a gap in the traffic that had stopped to allow me to pass. The weather was atrocious with high rain fall at the time. As I turned right through the traffic and into the Service Station access road I drove over the Plinth that would have supported the Bollards as I could not see it at all primarily due to the prevailing weather conditions and the amount of vehicles on Ducklington Road. Serious damage has now been caused to the underside of my vehicle (photos available) and I immediately drove it to the nearest Repair Shop for a damage repair costing assessment which I am now waiting for issue. From debris around the Bollard bases, it would seem that these Bollards have been taken out previously under similar circumstances.

  • This is still not fixed. The status has been “investigating” for 122 days. Can county council provide an update? This traffic island is near impossible to see in the dark, we are now in winter season and more incidents are likely to occur.

  • Driving passed this site yesterday I notice that Bollards have now been reinstated at this site. With that in mind, can you now please advise me when I can expect to receive full refund of the costs associated with the damage caused to my vehicle when the Bollards weren’t there plus an appropriate amount for compensation.
