Overgrown hedges/planting on a sightline

Reported via desktop in the Verges category anonymously at 10:54, Thu 13 July 2023

Sent to Hampshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4782382.

This hedging is so overgrown as to greatly encroach upon the adjacent road and footpath, parts of which are more than 6ft high. This reduces visibility to both road traffic (both ways) and pedestrians, with increased risk for accidents. This is a busy estate road with deliveries and contractor traffic, and the hedging is on a sharp bend and with a gradient requiring clear sight lines. We would suggest that if not maintained regularly, the hedging should be removed and replaced with grass verge.

  • The hedging in question grows very quickly and becomes a blind spot for drivers as it is on a bend. To keep it at the planning height it needs attention more frequently, possibly 4times per year. Alternatively the hedge could be removed and replaced with a grass verge.
