Faulty ramp across Borough Road Dunstable

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 07:24, Sat 17 May 2014

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council 1 minute later

Contractors had placed a ramp across the road covering a pipe. The ramp was short but steep and after front wheels of my car had been over the underside of car came down on the ramp with a crunch. When I reached my destination a short distance away there was an unpleasant smell as I got out of the car. Friends arriving behind me had an exactly similar experience as their car went over the same ramp. I had the car looked at by a mechanic, who found a piece of smouldering rubber from the ramp wedged into the underside of my car's exhaust system. After the rubber piece was removed, the unpleasant smell disappeared. The faulty ramp does not appear to have caused a perforation in the exhaust, but could have.
