Sent to Reading Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4751856.

Traffic light at the junction of Shinfield road and Elm road (near Sportsman Pub) going towards Black boy road about is temperamental. Some times it allows more cars to go through and stays Green for long. but more often it is short green light only allows 2-3 vehicles to go through and causes a major unnecessary traffic Jam. this impacts most of the school drop offs as the queues get longer and we miss our drop off time. its definitely a traffic light fault as its not the same duration always. please can it be looked at and fixed. this creates bottle neck and some reckless driving. as today a car went into a left only lane to cross through and join straight line to avoid traffic. was very dangerous.

Updates

  • Will never understand why whom ever it concerns had the roundabouts removed from Elm Road, and Whitley Wood Road. when I first moved up here the traffic always flowed free with no hold ups ever. But since the lights were installed traffic from the M4 take a left and use Northumberland Avenue as a rat run to cut the corner off taking them past schools and nurseries. Some driver even take a short cut turning right down Halls Lane, making this way another rat run. Reading Council, replace the roundabouts and put a controlled crossing opposite the shops and get a gold star for showing SOME common sense. And as a footnote, what observant person placed a bus stop within 50 feet of the traffic lights on both sides of the lights causing more hold ups?.
