Rubbish bins not fit for purpose

Reported via desktop in the Parks/landscapes category anonymously at 15:23, Tue 27 June 2023

Sent to Canterbury City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4722878.

Canterbury City Council please replace the bins in Westgate Garden Park with seagull proof rubbish bins, lids need to be permanently sealed and access should be via the back of a squared unit. Rubbish should be placed into the bin via a letterbox opening.

As you will see from the pictures attached the rubbish bins located in Westgate Gardens Park do not contain the rubbish and therefore not fit for purpose. This is because seagulls can easily pull all the rubbish out onto the floor looking for scraps of food. This attracts rats and other vermin to the park.

Fix the bin problem, which in turn fixes the seagull problem which in turn fixes the seagulls attacking and flying off with live baby ducks.

Another, or additional option, is to put a larger bigger bin unit in the Council car Park also located in Westgate Gardens Park, (which is never full of cars so a wasted space).
