Road closure in Lechlade causing issues with traffic congestion in Coleshill

Reported via mobile anonymously at 16:08, Sun 25 June 2023 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4713960.

Due to a bridge being under repair the road between Highworth and Lechlade is closed. This means that heavy traffic is coming through Coleshill on single track roads. This includes large vehicles such as buses. I have no information on when the bridge will be repaired. The amount of traffic going each way on the small road shown on the map with very limited passing places is causing drivers to cut up verges, beep horns, shout at each other, reverse etc. There is a simple solution which is to put a temporary one way system in place, with traffic coming from Buscot being diverted onto school lane whilst traffic going towards Buscot remaining on the marked road.

  • I have heard nothing in response and traffic continues to be a big problem. Why haven’t you considered marking the one way route as suggested please?
