Dumbarton Road shops - Primrose St to Henrietta St
1) Litter 2) Flytipping 3) Commercial waste left out outwith agreed hours 4) Commercial stock cages 5) Overflowing black street bin 6) Overflowing wheelie bins 7) Choked drains 8) Abandoned roadwork & Cityfibre barriers/boards
Most of the commercial waste (all food outlets) is left out overnight ie shops not yet opened in the morning and left all day. So not only when business staffed. So not ‘1 hour’. And never moved back indoors. And waste bags never marked with business name or time of collection, ever.
Plastic bags then get the overnight seagull / ned treatment. Then the pavements, streets, gutters, drains are all affected. More mess, more costly clear up. Commercial waste is dumped in that black street bin & then overflows, repeatedly. Yes, they are allowed to apparently. So, proactively empty it then - simple.
How often do I need to make GCC aware of these issues before a formal, pro-active solution is found?
Reminding all food stores in this stretch of the waste collection rules would be a welcome start. Then monitor every week. If improved, then every month, every 3 months, every 6 months, every year. It’s not rocket science, just good, sensible management. And move that bin away from the temptation of Qasioun (I’ve only been asking for 3 years). And fine repeat offenders, removing their trading licence if they still persist.
Wee words to the wise go unheeded. In short, and after 7 years of repeated reporting, please finally sort this - it’s your paid job after all, not mine. Thanks.
