Please trim the tree
Reported via desktop in the Tree Requires Pruning category by Carla Martin at 10:50, Wed 14 June 2023 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4671129.
The tree is overhanging the balcony at Flat 2, Minard Court, 160 Ravenscroft Road. We have been trying to keep in touch with the council numerous times, but nobody has got back to me since April.

I have not received a response. I have been trying to get in touch with anyone from Bromley Council regarding this, but it seems to be a waste of time.

Due to three recent storms which has resulted in a high volume of tree related emergency callouts which the teams are making progress working their way through. The storm clear up process may impact causing delays for routine works raised for enquiries. The contractor is in hand to visit site to cut back the Oak from buildings structure. Thank you for your patience.

Hi when is this expected to happen, can you provide an ETA? Will we be notified?

Thank you for your comments. We are unable to give timeframes for individual jobs given the physical volume of works raised on a daily basis during the summer months which are our busiest time of the year. The contractor has been issued the works and will undertake them as soon as possible.

Hi what does appropriate action taken mean? The tree is still overhanging and has grown considerably. We have seen no contractors at all and no tree cutting has been observed.

I am a committee member of lower Chesham allotments. I have mentioned the potential danger with regard this tree. Your contractor would only be able to access the tree through the allotments. I can arrange to unlock the gates for them given notice. 07392546509 Sally evans

Hello, following the two updates posted earlier today it is a bit confusing. It was mentioned that 'service failure has been raised with the contractor, the department manager has been informed and will be speaking with the contractor to book a date for completion'. The second update mentions this report is now closed, so if it is closed what happens to the outstanding action for the tree to be trimmed? If the report is closed then we will receive no updates. What are the further details that are to be outlined?

This tree is extremely dangerous. By closing this you are ignoring a threat to people and property. I shall be contacting [Tree Officer] of Bromley and idverde for advice.

Please note that this report was raised almost 16 months ago and in that time the tree has grown significantly. There is the real possibility that the tree if continue to be left untrimmed could cause damage to the Minard Court building as it grows further which the council would be liable for. Also to note is that due to the growing foliage, the tree attracts a vast number of insects including mosquitos which means that during the hotter months of the year residents of Minard Court are unable to keep windows open for airflow and therefore have to suffer in the heat. This is obviously something which should not be happening especially as there are two residents at Minard court with newborn babies. I strongly urge you to assign a different contractor to come and assess the tree before then undertaking trimming as well as investigating the previous contractor. Residents should not have had to continually keep chasing for 16 months with no resolution! Please ensure this is escalated accordingly as the responses so far have not been good enough.

Please accept our apologies for the inactivity of the contractor. The enquiry was incorrectly closed down by the contractor when the works were not completed satisfactorily. A service failure has been issued to the contractor which they will rectify the uncompleted works. This was chased up earlier this week and the contracts manager will prioritise the completion of the works. Thank you for your continued patience.

Thank you - it has been over a year and a half since this was raised. The contractor should be penalised for not undertaking the works they were supposed to.
