Drainage problem => Road damage

Reported via mobile in the Drainage category by David Hunt at 10:09, Wed 14 June 2023

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4670839.

Even in this heatwave, water drains continuously out of the unmaintained ditch onto School Lane. This has damaged the road surface and created potholes under the puddles so they can’t be seen. This is dangerous for pedestrians, cyclists, pets, cars and anyone else using the road. In the winter it freezes and becomes treacherous. This has been reported so many times over many years. Please fix it by fixing the drainage and fixing the road.

  • Please ensure that the long term drainage issue that has caused this road damage is fixed before the road is fixed.

    Otherwise, the repair will be a waste of tax payers money as the damage will be repeated and will need to be done again.

    Please spend our money wisely.

  • I notice from the marks on the road that the council are planning to add ‘grips’ to allow water to drain off the road into the verge. Unfortunately, this won’t help as the water is coming from the verge (where the drain is blocked) into the road. Please fix the drainage problem first!!

  • Not sure what HCC has done to consider this closed. I suspect it’s been closed just to improve the ‘service delivery score’. Nothing seems to have been done to fix the road and there is no evidence that the drainage problem has been fixed. Please explain what’s changed!
