General litter around Clock House Station and in to Clock House Road

Reported via desktop in the Street Cleansing and Litter category anonymously at 08:47, Monday 5 June 2023

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4631482.

The litter on and around Clock House station/Road has slowly built up and there has been no street cleaning to sort this (and this litter has been building up for over a week) - I am not entirely sure we even have a litter cleaner that comes along Clock House Road (and any street off of Clock House Station/Beckenham Road).

Please can we have more street cleaning (litter pickers - not that machine that drives over the pavement and does not clear any actual litter!). We need someone to come along regularly over the full 7 day week and ensure things don't build up.

This is potentially an issue in that the Clock House Station does not provide bins, but also peoples inability to use bins (especially the people who think "placing" a drinks cans/bottle down is not littering), people empty their cars directly on to the road, bin men during their collection days, the sheer quantity of people that use the area on foot and in car, etc etc.

I have tidied the road now - from the top of Clock House Road to the second corner. It is tidy as of now... but give in 2 days and we will see a steady build up again.

  • Can I check you understand; I cleared the area of litter already - so there was no rubbish to be cleared. I saw a pavement buggy run through at high speed, turn around and disappear but didn't even attempt to take a look at the gutters where the litter builds up. (Apologies; if this is not the resolution you were referring to - you have not provided feedback).

We need a street cleaner to "walk" up and down both sides of the road to clear the continuous build up of rubbish (from the road users/parked cars and others who deposit their rubbish as it is not their problem after they drive off).

We need the cleaner to be doing this on a regular basis.

We do NOT need a person in the pavement buggy as this does not see or do anything with the rubbish.

TODAY: There is yet again a build up of litter in the area. I have walked up and down the area impacted. I have cleared up the majority of the litter (I did not have a broom to sweep the road). I have attached photos showing the slow build up that I HAVE NOW CLEARED.

This is the impact of the station and the surrounding shops. If this can't be done, please can we request that only resident cars are allowed to park in the area at all times, and/or block off the top of the road to stop people parking quickly to rush in to the various shops.
