Hello,
I am e-mailing to complain about the 2 street lights in Duxberry Close. On Tuesday 30th May the street lights were replaced with LED, and are now both extremely bright.
The street light outside no 3 Duxberry Close shines right into the upstairs bedroom, making it too bright and hard to sleep, and the street light by the entrance of close shines directly into my downstairs hall where it is too bright.
These 2 street lights are a lot brighter than what we had previously, the old lights were not clear glass like the ones there now.
Please can you arrange for these street lights to be dimmed or something like we had before so they're not as bright as these LED one's.

The old street lamp we had that wasn't LED had frosted glass. This new street lamp is LED so a lot brighter and has clear glass. It is far too bright and shines directly into the bedroom making it difficult to sleep. The contractors put a shield in on the side, this shield then doesn't allow any light out so it is then too dark. The contractor came back and we asked them to try half the shield. This also has not worked and is too dark with no light coming out. We never had any issues with the old lamp but this new one is not fit for purpose as either too bright so you can't sleep, or too dark where it cannot be dimmed and is just blocked off. Please can you arrange for frosted glass to be put in to see if this resolves the problem? If not maybe a white shield instead of a black one? If none of this is possible then please arrange to put the old lamp back that was fit for purpose.

I've had this ticket open for nearly 2 months and still waiting for resolution. Appreciate the manufacturer was being contacted the beginning of the month but there has been no update since. Whilst this is being investigated can you please make arrangements to put the old street light back as this is taking a considerable amount of time, and the new street light in its current state is not fit for purpose. As mentioned previously the old street light had frosted glass, and was not LED. All that has been offered is a black shield that completely blocks any light out, or to have it far too bright for sleeping. If frosted glass could be placed in the new street light, or maybe a white shield, or try painting the clear glass - unless the light can be dimmed? It should not be left like this for weeks on end.

Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately we can not reinstall the old lantern and have chased the contractor regarding delivery dates for the new shield at this location, we will look into a temporary solution this week and will provide a full update shortly.

A workman came today to put in a shield that is an off white colour, however this is still not letting enough light out and is making it dark. Please can you go back to the manufacturer to ask what else can be done as this hasn't resolved the problem. Without the shield it is far too bright, much brighter than the previous street lamp that wasn't LED, but with the black shield and the off white shield it blocks out too much light. It is possible to try frosted glass, like we had on the old street lamp please?

Thank you for logging my update, I assume whilst this is being investigated that the off white shield will be removed in the meantime?

Please note. For clarification: The black shield needs to stay in place. The section that has the white shield is where the problem exists.

Resident called stated that she is concerned for safety as too dark and requests a frosted cover as a solution. requests that in the meantime the white cover is removed.

To summarise the light is too bright since it was changed to LED. A black shield was tried on the side and this was then too dark. A half shield was tried on the side and this is still too dark. A white shield was tried on the side and this was still too dark. The original light had a frosted glass, and if you look at the log so far this is what should be being investigated now. I have put up with this for months now of it being too bright in the bedroom so please either put the old light back (no issue with the old light), or get the frosted glass as this current light is not fit for purpose where it is a lot brighter than the non LED light.
