Buried watercourse
Reported anonymously at 17:17, Thu 20 March 2014
Sent to Spelthorne Borough Council and Surrey County Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 456552.
There is a watercourse (bourne) along the northern side of Nursery Rd. This then goes across Green St, through the St Pauls school grounds, London Irish, Batavia to French St and then enters the thames near the Salvation Army ground. These natural watercourses took floodwater away and recent problems show the error of councils filling them in and not maintaining them. The water course could be a nice feature as well as saving vast expense. Get the bourne cleared out please.

I suspect this is one for the Environment Agency, not the council.

Actually you totally wrong; except where under public land it belongs entirely to the landowners themselves as is non-river, unless a Thames Water surface water or Combined sewer which you might want to check with Thames Water when the problem recurs.

Natural watercourses were filled in routinely in the past. Now known to be a problem. Not aware of any riparian owners other than local authorities.
