Trees on Townsend Need Pruning
Reported via desktop in the Tree Requires Pruning category anonymously at 18:57, Sun 14 May 2023
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4553360.
The three mature trees on Townshend Road closest to the entry of Albany Road are all partially dying and full of disease. The three trees have significant dead branches that continue to break off, and all compromise the tree's structure. These trees need addressing sooner than later if there is any interest in saving the trees.

Thank you for your enquiry. Townsend Road and Degema was visited recently under a separate enquiry which has jobs raised which are in hand to be completed by the contractor. A separate visit was undertaken today and further jobs added to what is in hand to be completed. Sadly, the whitebeams do not like refracted heat and have not faired well under last summers drought conditions, works are raised to prune a number of trees and one is due to be removed due to basal rot which will be replaced next planting season.

The trees have been ignored. They continue to struggle and many additional branches seem to have become infected by tree disease. It would look as though the disease is spreading to adjacent trees. Per the council’s last email I have been watering the trees, but lack of water is not the problem. The trees need proper pruning/pollarding.

Thank you for your efforts. As per above, the contractors will attend the trees and carry out the required works. We cannot give a time frame for when they will undertake the works as they are currently prioritising other works across the borough.
