Rattling manhole cover on A814

Sent to Glasgow City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4484396.

East-bound inner lane, roughly opposite nos 25/26 Victoria Park Drive South.

Every time a vehicle goes over it, it makes a loud clatter - it is clearly loose again due to failing road surrounds. And note, some 4 million vehicles a year use the east-bound lane alone.

In the last 6 years or so, this drain (?) cover has proven problematic. Is it still needed? The last time you tackled it, it took no less than 3 goes to finally get it right. However, inevitably with that volume of traffic, it was bound to fail again and it has.

Please rectify once again and 'do it once, do it right' this time. Thanks.

  • This same manhole cover is causing serious vibration issues at no. 21 Victoria Park Drive South. The floors at the back of our property vibrate. We have taken advice from a structural engineer and measurements have been taken, indicating that damage has occurred. In the first instance I am to request a repair of said cover. Further to this I will take legal advice, pending damage claim.

  • Someone (presumed from council) was out today (24th July) walking the verge & crossed to said location. Not that is indicative of anything, of course.

    And every house in the street suffers from ground vibrations from the volumes and type (HGVs, buses) that speed along the A814.

  • Just to add to the manhole cover chat on the Expressway, after having reported this 6months ago, nothing has been done. Our flat shakes every time a bus, HGV or even a larger car goes over it. This cannot be good for the structure of these 130+ year old flats. Please can this problem be rectified before any further damage happens and worse still that a bad accident may happen as the manhole may sink.
