Investigating
The footpath is too narrow
Reported via mobile in the Obstruction (Not Vegetation) category anonymously at 07:05, Fri 21 April 2023 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4468677.
The footpath is too narrow which results in high top vehicles being able to drive too close and hit my roof. The previous report was closed without any follow up and this should be re-opened.
Ref: 2941934
The property is grade II listed and predates the footpath which needs to be upgraded.

In addition to the path being too narrow to offset vehicles hitting my roof, it is also causing damp issues inside. My living room is below the level of the road and so the walls can’t breathe. I request a French ditch or similar with breathable subfloor materials to protect my listed property

Can you please follow up with an update on the impact the highway is having on my property. It is Grade II listed and therefore you also have a responsibility to ensure the property remains in a good state of repair. This is currently unachievable without highways improvements.

I have still not had any follow up to this issue despite having reported it almost 2 years ago. Please respond.

Investigation: Ongoing - Thank you for making us aware of this incident, I am sorry to hear of it. Ultimately it is each individual drivers responsibility to be aware of the height of their vehicle and to drive with due care and attention. Given the narrow road width we are unlikely to be able to widen the path, but we may be able to add a hatched road marking alongside the path, or a warning sign about the overhanging roof. We will update further when we have assessed the options. You may also want to consider if it is feasible to put a hi-vis marker on each end of the roof to highlight it to drivers.
