Tree overhanging property that is posing a risk to building

Reported via mobile in the Tree Requires Pruning category by Christopher Powell at 11:05, Sat 15 April 2023 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4442308.

There is a tree at the rear of my property that over time has grown in size and has additional weight due to vines growing on the tree. This is getting progressively worse and is now leaning significantly over my garden fence and over my out-building. I spend a lot of time in this building with family and friends and we believe the tree poses significant risk to both property damage and health and safety.

  • Good evening, After reporting an overhanging tree causing a risk to my property and Health and Safety back in April, there has still been no action and the issue remains unresolved. Can someone please come back to me with how and when this is going to be addressed. Many thanks, Chris

  • Can someone please provide an update on when the works are due to taken place. Concerns have been raised since April, and with weather worsening over the autumn and winter, I am increasingly concerned with the threat posed to my property and to anyone who may be inside.

  • We are unable to provide time frames for the works as they attend hundreds of jobs across the borough every month. Please be assured this is on their list of works.

  • Good evening, I'm following up once again for an update. The overhanging tree was reported in April of last year and this has still not been addressed despite being told that a contractor has been instructed to take action. We are having more regular storms/strong winds and I have serious concerns that if this is not addressed urgently that the tree is likely to fall and cause significant damage to my property. I'd really appreciate it this could be prioritised to avoid damage and potential harm to anyone inside the out-building. Many thanks, Chris

  • We know this works is outstanding and have asked the contractors to prioritise. We cannot give a time frame for its completion.

Posted by Bromley Council at 11:28, Tuesday 23 January 2024

  • My apologies for the delays in the completion of the works. The contractor has unfortunately claimed the work as completed which a site visit has established works has not been completed. The contractor has been issued with service failure to rectify this which we are working with the contractor to resolve this as soon as possible.

  • Good afternoon, This is really frustrating as I have highlighted on several occasions that the work is not complete. Can you please confirm a timescale to resolve this. The tree is getting worse and is significantly overhanging my property which as highlighted previously poses the risk of significant damage and cost, plus endangerment to anyone inside the out-building which is used regularly. If this isn't addressed urgently, it is certain to cause damage.

Posted anonymously at 13:13, Monday 4 March 2024

  • Please accept our apologies. The contractor has been chased up for the service failure raised for the uncompleted works and will prioritise their completion. Thank you for your patience.

  • Good morning, I am following up again as this is still yet to be rectified and I want to flag once again how urgent this is due to risk to my property. It has been over a year since I reported the issue. Please can someone urgently move this forward and resolve the issue with your contractor.

  • As previously advised, we are aware of this outstanding issue. Please be assured that we are working to resolve this quickly.

Posted by Bromley Council at 08:29, Tuesday 18 June 2024

  • Can you please confirm the latest on this and when the contractors are due to come out. I appreciate there are other issues in Bromley that need to be resolved, however this has been ongoing since April last year. Apparently your contractor has also been booked in since last April. I do not understand how this is taking so long. This tree is getting progressively worse and I have serious concerns of the risk this poses. Please can this be addressed with immediate effect.
