Unsightly shop waste cages / pallets
Reported via iOS in the Flower Beds / Floral Display category anonymously at 11:26, Saturday 25 March 2023
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4357153.
Shortlands Village has several raised flower beds in the centre of Beckenham Lane which gives much needed enhancement to the village. However the two competing supermarkets use this area for all their surplus packaging waste in and out of cages which on a daily basis overflows. The wind catches the paper & plastic regularly which ends up all over various areas of the village. Even after conversations with both shop keepers they refuse to take responsibility of the litter issue and simply blame each other for the problem. Our flowers bed are totally obscured by this unsightly mess. Why are the shop keepers using this area at all when both of them have adequate space at the rear of their premises. It’s bad enough the village is looking very un inviting for shoppers. A simple change to the permitted use of the forecourt/pedestrian area could make a huge difference to the Villages appearance and appeal. Please can we have this issue looked into at your earliest convenience.
