Potholes , road surface breaking up (again)

Reported via desktop in the Road Defect category anonymously at 13:56, Thursday 23 March 2023 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4350234.

Multiple potholes and road surface breaking up at the junction of Oaklands Land and Norheads Lane.

These have been there many weeks and never repaired.

Someone from the borough the person who puts the white spray paint around road defects must have driven right over these earlier this week and has done nothing about them!

Bromley Borough should get an award for the worse road conditions in London, they are awful and are doing damage to our vehicles .

Hopefully with the increase in my council tax this year things will improve....I think not

  • How can this really be acceptable on a bus route and busy road, it's just dangerous and the council have no urgency to repair it, and when and if you do , how about doing the repair properly and one that last!

  • This area along with both sides of the road as your turn into Norheads Lane before Kings Road are still a hazard to all road users. This area has been reported to you numerous times and people, and beyond your standard time line , please give me an update when they will be prepared and not a standard reply please!

  • This is now so dangerous! You have to emerge from a side street, in to a blind bend, whilst driving slowly over the damaged surface. Someone is going to get T-boned soon.

Posted anonymously at 11:40, Friday 16 June 2023

  • Still needs sorting it's getting worse

Posted anonymously at 22:47, Monday 19 June 2023

  • Please can this be at least patched until a permanent repair is sorted, driving over this so bad even at a very low speed. Odd as other smaller potholes have been patched further down the road but this large set of holes have been untouched.

  • I sent an image 3 months ago in March of this disgraceful road surface, nothing has been done!

It needs resurfacing , not a bodge up, it is in a worse state then Stock Hill which is being resurfaced next week!

I've sent an email to LBB Highway department, but no reply as yet, no surprise there. I have also spoken to my local councillor, why is this taking so long to get done??

As mentioned by many people now driving over this road is awful and is dangerous to all road users.

Come on LBB pull your finger out and get this repaired, 3 months is way above your fix timescale.

  • I can only echo what has been said tonight. This is incredibly dangerous given the bend in the road and having to pull out so slowly due to condition of the road. It really is quite difficult to believe that this is still ongoing.

  • Totally agree with other comments. This road is getting dangerous! Accident waiting to happen. This was originally reported nearly 4 months ago! Since stock hill is being done up from tonigh. Whilst the machines are in the area, they should be brought down and do this bit too, as it’s down the road.

  • Here , Here totally agree, that’s far too sensible idea for our LBB office staff to do .

4 months is a total disgrace especially when less damaged roads are being resurfaced beforehand .

As I’ve said before come on LBB , pull your finger out and give all the folks who have reported this a big surprise and get this area resurfaced not as a Christmas present , but NOW please .

  • Still nothing is fine about this and it is getting dangerous turning in and out as cars are taking different lines to avoid the holes. How is it acceptable that this has been like this for months, Bromley council are a joke

  • Totally agree with all other comments regarding the road condition in this area.

I originally posted photos and information about this 4 months ago in March, nothing has been done, it's obviously a worse condition now.

There's no point in a bog up job, the area needs resurfacing in the Oaklands Lane area along with the first part of Norheads Lane, both sides of the road before the Kings Road junction.

I've reported this to councillors and our local MP and it's like hitting your head against a brick wall.

LBB give us a time for once when you intend resurfacing this, no exuses or usual reply , 4 months is a ridiculous time to have to wait and I'm amazed there's been no accident in this area.

It would also be nice if we ever get this area repaired to have it repaired from workers that take pride in their work and do a good job!

  • Over 4 months from the original report and still no signs of any resurfacing?

    An update please?

Posted anonymously at 16:40, Wednesday 12 July 2023

  • Still no resurfacing in this area, a few faded painted white crosses have appeared, but there's little point patching this area up , it needs resurfacing in the areas told to LBB 4 months ago.

Quote from Environmental Services Aims for pavement and road repairs:

Jobs to repair issues are raised on timescales according to the priority and risk of the defect. Please allow for up to 35 calendar days for works to be undertaken.

Reported 4 monts ago, somewhat beyond the 35 calender day promise!!!!!

  • Why does report say CLOSED when it clearly isn't and is now 4 months + since first report and photos taken.

Please give a date when this area will be re surfaced ?

It's now 120 days + since first reported, way beyond your 35 calender days for repair, this is a total disgrace and not anywhere value for money my £205 a month council tax !!

  • Thank you for your further comments regarding this issue. Bromley are aware of the significant volume of works raised and outstanding with our contractor and we are continuing to monitor and liaise with them over this outstanding schedule of works. Our Officers are not able to give precise timeframes to individual jobs at this moment but are continuing to undertake regular safety inspections and check any reported issues. We will continue to work with our contractor to ensure that all outstanding jobs are addressed as quickly as they are able.

  • I’ve noticed you have put a bit of tarmac in 3 potholes, please don’t tell me this is all you are going to do ?

There are multiple potholes in Norheads Lane before the junction of Kings Road both sides of the road that haven’t been touched , and in Oaklands Lane at the junction of Norheads Lane.

You are going to re surface this entire area aren’t you ?

4 months and all you do is put a bit of tarmac in 3 holes that will last a matter of weeks.

See attached an image of the bodge up your contractors have made in Oaklands Lane at the junction of Norheads Lane.

I won’t give up complaining to you until this area is totally resurfaced in the areas pointed out to you multiple times over 4 coming on 5 months .

Posted anonymously at 20:03, Sunday 23 July 2023

  • 2 photos taken today , the worse area is actually in *Norheads Lane* at the juncion of Oaklands Lane .

Needs resurfacing not patched up with tarmac that won't last.

  • Some white painted lines have appeared around some of the multiple potholes .

Will these be repaired or entire area re surfaces which needs to be done ?

5 months now and counting since original report on fox my street !

Let’s hope a decent contractor turns up before the white painted lines fade away like other times !

Posted anonymously at 09:09, Tuesday 8 August 2023

  • What good is it monitoring the potholes. They need doing. You’re quick to take our council tax money, but terrible at repairing roads. Some of this potholes were filled in and the others left. No wonder our roads are in such a state. If my car gets damaged expect a bill from me! This is an absolute joke! GET IT FIXED!!!!!! We’ve been waiting over 5 months now. It’s excuse after excuse with you lot!! 😡 white lines aren’t gonna fox this!
