Sign in Wrong Place
Reported via mobile in the Sign Missing/Damaged category anonymously at 10:48, Wednesday 15 March 2023 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4315373.
As you can see the sign that provides the no parking time zone is at the end of a grass verge where pedestrians would not walk as it’s not a pathway and not safe.
The lay-by has never been sign posted and people are now starting to receive PCNs for no fault of their own but LBB’s inadequate signage. If a loading bay sign and the sign at the end of the verge were correctly situated where the lay-by is situated there would be no confusion and people would not park here. The fact that this sign is not adequately in situ nor seen by drivers parking is a sneaky way of LBB issuing PCNs. I would not have parked here if I knew this was loading bay with time zones as issued to me on my PCN that LBB refused to cancel and I have since had to pay the PCN. As you can see in these photos I’m not the only driver that has no idea that this is a loading bay as there are no signs in plain/safe view. For example in East Street in Bromley your signs are adequate and clear and placed correctly but this particular lay-by in St Mary Cray is not sing posted at all where it should be clear for drivers to read. Please can you consider moving the current sign to an adequate place and or adding a loading bay sign so us drivers are aware. Having parked here plenty of times over the years i was confused when I received the PCN. Please can you rectify this, people have enough going on with cost of living and I would never have parked here if I knew it was a loading bay as I do not make habits of parking where not allowed!
Lastly , a lot of people do park here as it’s easier to access nugent for parcel pick up (as I did) as the nugent car park is one way in and way out and causes soooooo much traffic pollution it’s unreal!

The Council has erected the waiting restriction sign within 15m of the start/finish of the restriction, as per the recommendation of the guidance. We do not have to provide repeater signs. The onus always lies with the driver to ensure that they comply with the regulation of the road.
