Never ending roadworks

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 12:42, Wednesday 8 March 2023

Sent to Reading Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4292235.

This is about the never ending roadworks at the Berkeley Ave/Pell St crossroads by TW with 4 way temps lights. These started on 14/2 & were originally due to finish on 20/2. Since then they have been extended 4/5 times (or more), the latest from yesterday 7/3 to tomorrow 9/3. As can be expected they are causing major traffic problems at this busy point. What is RBC's policy on this? RBC just seem to let them get away with it no questions asked. TW should incur a massive daily financial penalty for each day the works overrun from the original finishing date. RBC are too free & easy giving these companies permission to dig the roads all round the town, Cityfibre being another recent example. "No" isn't a swear word.

Updates

  • TW gone now (but digging holes everywhere else, closing roads & installing temp lights). However RBC were far too ignorant to respond to the report, their usual action.

    State changed to: Fixed
