Dangerous use of barbed wire

Reported via desktop in the Public Right of Way footpath category anonymously at 11:50, Wednesday 8 February 2023 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later

The footpath has been fenced with double levels of barbed wire on either side of the path. This is unnecessary and dangerous. The path becomes very slippy and muddy in wet weather and the barbed wire becomes a danger for users of the footpath. I would request that barbed wire is removed and replaced with simple wire.

  • The stock fence with the double lined barbed wire is legal to use and this fence topped with barbed wire is used to house livestock and at certain times of the year, including very large Bulls and this barbed wire is to keep the animals away from the fence. The Council will not be asking the landowner to remove the barbed wire. I would suggest to take extra care at certain times of the year when the ground is muddy and have the appropriate footwear and maybe the aid of a walking stick to keep balanced when using the muddy footpath. Many thanks and kind regards, JPR - 09/02/2023.
