Large pothole near drain on East bound carriageway of A40
Reported via desktop in the Pothole category anonymously at 11:12, Thu 26 January 2023
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4172516.
The pothole has been there for several weeks and has recently worsened, maybe due to freezing temperatures. The narrow lanes force many HGVs to drive over the pothole, usually at the 30mph limit. This causes them to bounce, leading to loud banging, especially noticeable at night - but more importantly, it makes our house vibrate each time a truck passes. This can be dozens of times per day, A hairline crack has appeared in our front upstairs room which I think has been caused by this pothole's vibrations.

Hello please advise when the road will be fixed. More hairline cracks have appeared in my ceilings and walls and I invite somebody from the council to visit my house to see them. If that's not sufficient to speed things up, then I would ask that those cracks are monitored by your engineers from now until the road is fixed. Either that or please divert all large trucks away from this stretch of road until you have been able to get it fixed. I fear the damage that is being caused to my home will be expensive to repair if left much longer.
