Salt grit box almost empty

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 11:05, Thu 26 January 2023

Sent to Cardiff Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4172488.

After the recent cold weather the grit box at the turning point on Garth Hill Gwaelod y Garth is almost empty. The salt is needed to provide access to the properties on the hill as well as emergency vehicles when needed. One Cardiff cc refuse wagon recently skidded on ice here and was only able to get free because of the presence of the grit box. Please could the box be refilled asap before the next bout of inclement weather? Thank you.

Updates

  • The empty grit box at the turning point on Garth Hill Gwaelod y Garth was reported on January 23rd. As yet it has not been refilled. In the present weather this is not a problem but if another cold snap does occur it would mean the road would be impassable without being gritted. Please could the grit box be refilled asap. Thank you.
