Dangerous pavement

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4142968.

There is a constant flow of water from the unmade road onto the pavement by the petrol station. This is generally slippery but in the current weather conditions even worse and extremely dangerous as there is no way to avoid the ice other than walking onto the road.

  • The Council's inspector has visited site on numerus occasions and can not find any sign of water from the unmade road.

    I’ve attached a picture of this fault - as you can clearly see the state of the pavement and unmade road is dangerous and clearly there is water here whereas the surrounding area is dry.

  • Where expressed permission is given by the land owner or a managing agent acting on the freeholder's behalf Bromley Council will investigate nuisance vehicles on privately owned land.

    There is a non-refundable administration charge per vehicle for the investigation of vehicles on private land. The investigation includes site visits, all relevant DVLA checks and the serving of any required notices on the vehicle. If there is no interested party or the vehicle is not claimed by an owner and deemed to be abandoned the removal of the vehicle will be undertaken free of charge by Bromley.

  • I have no idea what your update means. My report is about the dangerous state of the pavement due to the excess flow of water from the private road - it has nothing to do with any parked vehicles. In an earlier response you indicated you could see no evidence of this so I have therefore provided photos. Please can you review this again.

  • Thank you for the update. So basically you are saying you are taking no responsibility for the state of the pavement and the danger this is to pedestrians just because the cause of that danger is coming from a private road! I find that extraordinary and I’m sure that will be a valid defence when a serious injury occurs as a result of this damage.
