Two green plastic bags left by bin

Reported via desktop in the Street cleaning category anonymously at 12:15, Tuesday 17 January 2023

Sent to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council less than a minute later

Well-meaning volunteer litter pickers frequently leave one or more green waste bags by the public bin on Troedyrhiw Road opposite Chevron Street. This is rarely coordinated with the council teams who come and pick up these bags, meaning it often sits there for several days.

As we already have a rat problem in the area it is unacceptable for this practice to continue. A large amount of bagged waste is creating an appealing rendezvous point for vermin near residential addresses. Granted, having rubbish strewn everywhere isn't much better but it does at least disperse the issue.

Bags need to be collected urgently and preferably any volunteers doing this work need to have, or be supplied with, their own sealable bins and the bags then placed out with the normal refuse (with special dispensation on quotas). As this volunteer scheme is apparently council-sanctioned/encouraged, such improvements should be part of this.
