Traffic lights causing issues Faringdon Rd bridge
Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 09:18, Wed 11 January 2023
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4112740.
The temporary traffic lights aren't allowing enough traffic through coming from the army barracks, Shippon side and causing long delays and queuing from Long Tow, Shippon and probably from Marcham way. Some cars driving dangerously trying to get into The Manor School eg over taking traffic queue at speed and cutting in. Once over bridge by secondary schools there is no queuing traffic to come back towards Shippon.

The delays here are extremely lengthy - queues start at the far end of Barrow Road near Darley Grange, and driving from that turn to the lights at morning rush hour takes 35 minutes. Traffic is also queuing along Faringdon Road towards/on Cholswell Road. Please confirm when the lights will be removed or what the plan is to get to removal. Thank you

This is causing chaos, do we know when the lights will be removed, can they be looked at ASAP? There are 4 schools along from this route so you can imagine the problems that are occurring! Thanks

I suspect this partial closure is related to the horrible crash the other day and damage to the bridge, there is nothing on one.network for this? However, the traffic lights are causing a major inconvenience to 100s of people every day - if in any doubt come and visit at 08:30 any week morning. A plan timeline to fix posted here would also be useful. Many thanks.

Please could we have an update on these works. It's been 2 weeks now with no visible evidence of work. We also have other roadworks started not far from here so doing the school run is literally turning into an hours trip with what should be 10mins! We just need communication and I thought that's what this service was for. Please update the log with status and timeline ASAP. Thank you.

Traffic lights are not synchronized or working properly. Coming from Shippon towards Abingdon the lights were green for about 5 seconds only, so the long queue jumped the red light. This has been faulty for a long time and nobody is working there. Please pass on details of this problem to whoever is responsible if there is anyone.

These lights are still in situ and still causing traffic chaos . I have travelled this route for 5 weeks up to 6 times a day and not once has there been any work being carried out or any evidence of work being carried out. Why are these lights here and why can’t they be removed?
