Tree is growing out into the road

Reported via mobile in the Tree Requires Pruning category anonymously at 14:24, Tuesday 10 January 2023 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4109808.

The tree is growing out into the road and is bending towards my bungalow. It seems to be bending down more than when I first moved here three years ago. I’m worried with strong winds it would fall onto my bungalow and drive and cause damage.

  • Our contractor has been notified to take the appropriate action.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. The tree has been inspected and has no signs or symptoms associated with an unstable root plate. Trees are phototrophic and can develop leans naturally whilst competing with surrounding building structures in the search of light to develop energy from their leaves through the process of photosynthesis. Works are raised and have been issued to the contractor for completion to crown lift the tree for roadside and pavement. Please note that in line with policy we do not prune boundary overhang, which landowners are entitled to do under common law, the crown lift will improve the driveway overhang but not remove it completely.
