Flooding when rains reducing access
Reported via mobile in the Other (non-highways) category anonymously at 14:36, Sun 8 January 2023
Sent to Hampshire County Council and New Forest District Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4101157.
Every time it rains the soak aways cannot cope with rainwater and it floods. Making access almost impossible, nowhere for visitors or delivery drivers to park, refuge collections have to try to walk round a steep verge and narrowing path. At deepest after continuous rain pavement outside numbers 16 to 22 is impassable. People or visitors to numbers 13 to 21 have sometimes had to climb over our fence to get out of close. It was solved over 10 years ago then new non porous road surface laid to stop potholes and since has flooded every rainfall. Been raised with Hampshire council yet nothing is done.

They have twice come out to look at drains and said several were blocked. It’s not as bad as before but still flooding each side of end of close and then rises with rainfall. It’s only in last couple weeks we’ve had any rainfall so couldn’t comment until now. The man from Hampshire council phoned me and said if draining drains didn’t work there was nothing they could do. This is not acceptable. Resurface the road making it level and falling towards drains then if this doesn’t resolve major drainage works needed. It shouldn’t be said we have to live with flooding in residential area. It makes it hard for all services and getting access. We personally are not too affected being up slightly from it but neighbours are wading to their cars and post and bin collections are affected for all
